The adventure kicks off early at 4:00 am, as we pick you up from your hotel and embark on a 3-hour drive to the trek’s starting point. While preparations are made, our chef crafts a nutritious breakfast to fuel your journey. Before commencing the trek, our guide briefs you on the day’s itinerary and safety tips.
The trek commences in a green valley, revealing the distant Ausangate Mountain. En route, witness rural communities, connecting with the deep relationship the Andean culture holds with nature. Passing Pukaqocha (4,870 m / 15,977 ft), enjoy panoramic views of the crystal-clear Pukaqocha Lagoon and the majestic Ausangate Mountain. After a brief break, trek for 2 hours to Anantapata for lunch.
Following a 3-hour ascent to Abra Minasniyuc or Warmisaya Pass (4,985 m / 16,354 ft), catch the first glimpse of the distant, spectacular colors of Rainbow Mountain. Descend for 45 minutes to the Surine Qocha Lagoon camp, where a warm welcome awaits, including a happy hour, dinner, and a well-deserved rest.
Begin the day with hot coca leaf tea in your tent, followed by a delicious breakfast. The trek ascends for 45 minutes to the Rainbow Mountain viewpoint, offering solitude and breathtaking views of Rainbow Mountain, Apu Ausangate, and surrounding snowy peaks.
After exploring, trek to the awe-inspiring Red Valley, a tranquil place visited by few tourists. Revel in its beauty and serenity during a 30-minute walk to the viewpoint. Descend for 1.5 hours, passing Andean communities and llama herds. A final lunch awaits before a bus takes you back to Cusco.
