Explore the Enchanting Huchuy Qosqo Route

wonderful Huchuy Qosqo Trek, leading you to the lesser-known Inca site perched on a plateau, providing stunning views of the Sacred Valley and the snow-capped peaks of the Vilcabamba range.

The day begins with a drive to the small town of Corao, around 30 minutes from Cusco. From here, the trailhead to Huchuy Qosqo is accessed by venturing into the high Andes and reaching the quaint village of Qoricocha at (4,050 m / 13,287 ft).

The trail traverses through the little village of Sihua, ascending to the Pukamarca pass (4,150 m / 13,615 ft), offering a spectacular viewpoint of the Urubamba mountain range and the Sacred Valley. A 30-minute downhill hike brings you to the Pumamarka Community for lunch.

After lunch, continue the trek to the Puma Puncu canyon, and follow an original Incan trail, part of the Qapacñan project, leading to the secluded Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo (“the little Cusco”). Situated above the Sacred Valley at (3,600 m / 11,811 ft), Huchuy Qosqo reveals its Inca buildings, including sacred temples, storehouses, agricultural terraces, and an Inca reservoir.
