A spiritual journey along the Salkantay and Humantay semi-gods.

from $ USD
Of course. Here is the translation from Spanish to English:
This is the 5-Day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. It is a luxury experience and, honestly, one of the best treks to get to Machu Picchu. You will see incredible landscapes, from the tropical cloud forest all the way to the Andes mountain range (which can reach considerable heights, exceeding 4,630 meters above sea level / 15,190 feet at some points). What is truly wonderful about this trip is that you will stay in comfortable cabins, so you won’t lose the comforts of home like Wi-Fi and hot showers. Every day you will learn more about the Inca culture, and your phone will definitely be filled with pictures of all the amazing views you will see. We have a team of guides and even horses to help you reach each destination. The journey takes you from coffee crops all the way to a hydroelectric plant, so you will gain a very deep understanding of Peruvian culture. This trip is not just about the beautiful scenery, but also about the people you will meet. They will make you want to return to Peru and see it from a completely new perspective.

The first day of this trek begins very early, at 4:30 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel and set off. We will drive for about two hours to Mollepata (elevation 2,803 m / 9,196 ft), where we will have a delicious breakfast (not included), and the views along the way are simply breathtaking. A really good breakfast—pancakes, fruit juice, and teas—sounds delicious.
After breakfast, we will continue driving for another hour to Challacancha, followed by a gradual uphill hike through the Salkantay Valley, which is a gentle way to start. Our first real destination is Soraypampa (3,900 m / 12,795 ft), where we will take a break, and you can see the impressive Salkantay glacier and river. The final climb of the day is to the Salkantay Pass, the highest point of our route, and it is a challenging 3-hour walk.
But the views from up there are totally worth it—a valley filled with clouds and a stunning sunset. We will enjoy a good lunch there, with some hot drinks and coca tea. After lunch, we will head to Humantay Lagoon (elevation 4,250 m.a.s.l. / 13,943 ft), a truly magical place.
After that, it is a 2-hour hike back to our first campsite in Soraypampa. You will be able to see the back of the mountains and the cloud forest as we walk. We will stay in some great cabins. If you’re lucky, the night sky will offer an endless, starry night—don’t miss this opportunity.
The weather is cold, and the trails are rocky, dusty, and slippery, so good trekking shoes are essential. The total hiking distance for the day is 13 km, with a maximum elevation of 4,250 m.a.s.l., and our campsite is at 3,900 m.a.s.l. Meals for the day are lunch and dinner.
We’re starting the day really early, with a hot drink to get us going and watch the beautiful sunrise over the mountains and glaciers. After that, we’ll pack up our stuff and have a delicious breakfast. This is going to be one of the hardest days of the trek. But don’t worry, the guides and horses are there to help you every step of the way. We’re heading for Huayraqmachay (3,900 m / 12,795 ft), where we’ll have lunch and catch our breath. You’ll be hiking surrounded by the cloud forest and views from way up high, so hopefully, that keeps you motivated. From there, the trek goes downhill to Chaullay (2,900 m / 9,514 ft), which is our last stop for the day. We’ll be camping here, surrounded by mountains and clouds. We’ll be in comfortable cabins again, with hot showers and Wi-Fi. It’s a great way to end a tough day. We’ll hike 23 km today, reaching a highest elevation of 4,620 m. Our campsite is at 3,900 m. The weather can be cold but also gets warm. The trail is rocky, dusty, and slippery, so you really need to have good trekking shoes. And just so you know, all three meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—are included.
This day is shorter than the others, which is nice. But don’t underestimate it, because the views along the way are some of the most beautiful on the trek.
We will walk through the tropical jungle and visit several farms, including an organic coffee farm.
During this visit, our eyes will be captivated by the wide variety of orchids and native birds of this tropical zone. We will also be able to visit the famous hot springs of Santa Teresa.
We will start early at 7 a.m., heading towards Playa Sahuayaco (elevation 2,065 m.a.s.l. / 6,774 ft). This trail is peaceful and at a lower altitude than previous days, making for an easy start.
After a few hours of hiking, we will arrive at a coffee farm. We will have lunch there at approximately 1 p.m., which of course will include delicious coffee.
You also have the option to visit the fabulous Cocalmayo hot springs in Santa Teresa (elevation 1,550 m.a.s.l. / 5,085 ft). This is not included and is optional.
To return, we will take the same route back to our camp in Lucmabamba (elevation 2,000 m.a.s.l. / 6,561 ft). There you can rest for the night.
We’ll start the day with a cup of hot coca tea and a hearty breakfast to energize ourselves. This is a day for some serious hiking! We will walk uphill for about three hours to Llactapata (Elevation 2,900 m.a.s.l. / 9,514 ft).
From there, the views are stunning. You can see Machu Picchu and even the snow-capped Humantay Mountain (Elevation 4,200 m.a.s.l. / 13,780 ft), which is really cool. From Llactapata, we will descend toward the hydroelectric plant (Elevation 1,890 m.a.s.l. / 6,200 ft). This section takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes of hiking.
The best part of this stretch is the incredible views of Machu Picchu. The hydroelectric plant itself features a massive 300-meter-high waterfall that generates power for the entire Cusco region.
Upon arriving at the hydroelectric plant, we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch and tropical drinks.
If you’re tired, there is an option to take a car from Lucmabamba to the hydroelectric plant (at an additional cost).
Finally, we will walk to the town of Aguas Calientes (Elevation 2,000 m.a.s.l. / 6,561 ft). We will have a delicious dinner at a cozy restaurant.
After dinner, we’ll head to the hotel. A hot shower and Wi-Fi will feel amazing after all that hiking!
Our last day is so important! We’re going to start really early with a fantastic breakfast. Don’t worry about packing up your stuff, the hotel will take care of that so it’s all ready for when you get back. Then, we’ll grab one of the very first buses heading up to Machu Picchu.
The ride is quick, only about 30 minutes. Once we arrive at the top of Machu Picchu (2,400 m / 7,874 ft), a guide will introduce you to this incredible place. We’ll have a two-and-a-half-hour guided tour of the amazing citadel, learning so much about Inca history and culture. After the tour, you’ll have plenty of time to explore on your own.
Finally, we’ll take the bus back to Aguas Calientes (2,000 m / 6,561 ft). We’ll catch the 4:20 p.m. train back to Ollantaytambo, which takes about two hours. The conditions are rocky, dusty, and slippery, so be sure to have trekking shoes.
