Your Machu Picchu Adventure with the Vistadome Train

Your day begins with an early pickup from your Cusco hotel, whisking you away to the train station for your journey to Machu Picchu. The pickup time is at 6:30 a.m. for the 7:35 a.m. train from Poroy-Cusco Station.

Please note: During the rainy season, from January through April, the train departs from Ollantaytambo Station. Your pickup time will be 4:45 a.m. from Cusco or 6:45 a.m. from Ollantaytambo.

A Scenic Journey through the Sacred Valley

The Vistadome train offers a breathtaking and luxurious ride. Thanks to its panoramic windows on the ceiling and sides, you’ll have an unobstructed view of the stunning landscapes. You’ll pass through the Sacred Valley of the Inca, where majestic glacial peaks give way to a narrow river canyon. The sacred Vilcanota River will accompany you as the scenery transitions to a vibrant sub-tropical jungle, signaling your approach to Aguas Calientes. The train itself provides a first-class experience, featuring air conditioning, heating, and comfortable leather seats. While on board, you can enjoy a special dance performance, making the journey an unforgettable part of your trip.

Exploring the Lost City of the Incas

Upon arrival at the Aguas Calientes train station at 10:52 a.m., your dedicated guide will be waiting for you. After a quick snack, you’ll take a short shuttle ride up to the entrance of Machu Picchu (2,430 m / 7,972 ft). Your guide will then lead you on a comprehensive two-hour tour, highlighting the most significant archaeological wonders of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Important: Please be aware that new regulations and time constraints make it impossible to hike to the Sun Gate, Inca Bridge, Huayna Picchu, or Machu Picchu Mountain during this tour.

The Journey Home

After your tour, you’ll return to Aguas Calientes to catch an early evening Vistadome train back to Poroy. The return train schedule offers departures at 4:22 p.m., 4:43 p.m., or 6:20 p.m. Your return time will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Once you arrive at Poroy, a private van will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco. You can expect to arrive back at your hotel between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., depending on your specific train schedule.
